Well, yeah, but if he'd just knocked on the door like a regular person (or even listened at the door for a minute to figure out what was going on...) he wouldn't have had a chance to use the sword.
And that would be tragic.
He's probably been carrying the thing around with him in his car, scanning for purse-snatchers on the sidewalk. And adjusting his super-hero underoos.
